Canva: is it worth paying for?

In short
A browser design tool for social posts, presentations and print, with templates and built-in AI features. The free plan covers a lot, so start there.
What it costs
- Free plan: yes, with templates, stock and 5 GB storage (Wise, July 2025). AI use on the free plan is capped; we could not find the exact allowance.
- Pro: about £13 a month or £100 a year per that same article, which is more than a year old. Canva's own US comparison page shows $12 a month on annual billing or $18 monthly (Canva). Check the live price before buying.
- A 30-day Pro trial was reported by the same article. Canva says the AI allowance during a trial matches the free plan's.
Suits
Small sellers making listing graphics, social posts and simple mock-ups, who want templates plus some AI.
Does not suit
People needing high-end photorealistic generation or large AI volumes.
What reviewers complain about
Trustpilot shows 4.0 of 5 from 8,074 reviews, 29% one-star. Trustpilot does not fact-check reviews. Themes, paraphrased:
- Features such as background removal and clean downloads sit behind the paid plan.
- Cancellation and refund refusals, and trouble saving or exporting work.
